Captain Justin Davis

Captain Justin Davis won the 2021 Officer of the Year award for his outstanding leadership and innovation. In 2021 Captain Davis instituted a new scheduling program to allow 24/7 staffed coverage for the Newark fire district. For those that are not familiar with volunteer firefighter staffing this achievement is rare to find in a fully volunteer fire department and a differentiator for NFD.

Firefighter Winston Saldivar was awarded 2021 Firefighter of the Year. Saldivar undertook the additional duties of social media coordinator, technology modernization, and became an instructor on our training staff. His contributions on and off scene earned him the 2021 Firefighter of the year.

FF Steven Kinney

Firefighter Steven Kenny won the 2021 Rookie of the Year award for his immediate positive impact to the NFD in his first year after becoming a full member. Kinney has accepted responsibilities beyond firefighting such as run report administrator, expense recovery, and training instructor. These critical tasks impact our operational funding, ability to win grants, and follow contractual obligations.
